Mohbad’s father, Mr. Joseph Aloba, spoke candidly about his son’s passing to the BBC.

In a recent interview amid the uproar over the passing of the 27-year-old Nigerian artist, Mr. Joseph Aloba expressed regret for burying his son in a hurried manner. Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and was buried the next day.

 

Although the musician was not a Muslim, his father explained why he was buried so quickly: there wasn’t enough room at the morgue to keep his remains in good condition.

“My son died at around 3 o’clock, but no one called. It was 10 o’clock when I arrived to his place, and there was a sizable gathering there. We tried to take him to the mortuary, but there was no room, and I couldn’t be watching him in the house,” he said. “We were denied a police report at the station.
