Speaking on Adom FM’s Entertainment Hall over the weekend, Friction who was born Musah Haruna said he abandoned the group in its initial days because it didn’t make enough money then.
According to him, he moved to the Netherlands in search of greener pastures and education where he started a music band.
VIP was formed after Friction came up with the idea.
The group which was initially made of five members namely, Promzy, Lazzy, Prodigal, and Bone began performing in ghetto parties, clubs, street festivals, and carnivals.
Amazingly, Friction’s pet dog named Chicago who was an official member of the group could be heard growling in songs they released in the late 90s.
The dog died eventually.
In 1998, the group released its first album, Bibi Baa O, which saw them gaining fame in Ghana and beyond.
The group won some prestigious awards, staged its own concerts, and received several call-ups to perform at some top-notch events all over.
Friction, who is now promoting the visuals for his latest song, ‘Zongo Na Fito’ says he wouldn’t have abandoned the VIP group given the second chance.
